Official Statement by Al-Mashhad Al-Sini… On the Occasion of the 12th National Memorial Day for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre
“Never Forgotten”: A Memory That Lives, A Pledge That Endures
Nanjing:Sinopanorama
Each year on December 13, the Chinese people do not merely commemorate the victims of the Nanjing Massacre—they renew a solemn moral covenant with history, with the fallen, and with humanity itself: to remember, so it may never happen again .
Eighty-eight years have passed since one of the 20th century’s most horrific wartime atrocities, when more than 300,000 innocent Chinese civilians perished under brutal aggression. The Nanjing Massacre was not a crime against China alone—it was a flagrant assault on universal human values and a deep wound in the conscience of the world.
At Al-Mashhad Al-Sini, we stand today—not only in grief, but in historical responsibility—to affirm that, as President Xi Jinping has firmly stated, “To forget the past is to betray.” We declare that any attempt to deny or erase this massacre is not only a denial of truth, but a betrayal of the victims’ souls and an affront to all who uphold justice and peace.
We honor those who fell without cause, and we revere those who remain as guardians of memory—like Madam Xia Shuqin, who still calls out to her lost loved ones before the “Wailing Wall,” teaching us that memory is not merely names carved in stone, but a sacred trust passed between generations.
China remembers the Nanjing Massacre not out of hatred, but out of love for peace—the kind of peace that cannot be built on silence or oblivion, but only on truth, justice, and accountability. As inscribed on the memorial ding in Nanjing:
“Never forget history, pray for peace. Realize the Chinese Dream, and achieve national rejuvenation.”
In a world increasingly fractured by revisionism and historical amnesia, Al-Mashhad Al-Sini reaffirms its commitment—rooted in our principles of historical truth, civilizational dialogue, and respect for national sovereignty—to amplify China’s voice of remembrance with honesty and integrity, not as a mere national narrative, but as a shared human legacy.
Therefore, we call upon all who care about justice, history, and peace—across the Arab world and beyond—to join us in upholding this truth:
Peace without justice is fragile—and justice without memory is forgotten.
Never forgotten.
And we will never allow it to be forgotten.
Al-Mashhad Al-Sini
